My snails eat any leftover food that is in the tank. That was my main problem with my babies...I was so used to the snails eating the leftovers, and I got tired of cleaning up after the snails...took all that I could find out of the tank, and then I had a real mess on my hands. There were some baby snails left on my plants, so I again have snails in my tank...they breed WORSE than rabbits! you will have to flush some of them if you have more than one in the tank!

Yes, I have to remove my snails regularly, they also can add to polllution. Also snails remove A LOT of calcium from the aquatic environment, make sure you test your kH regularly and keep it over 80 ppm for the health of all your aquatic inhabitants. Do not use baking soda for this either. www.americanaquariumproducts.com/AquariumKH.htmlCarl

Otherwise check your water parameters. In my experience most common snails beed readily in water between 6.8 snd 7.8 ph and with a kH over 80 ppm. Carl

I have several (about 6 I think) "mutt" snails...I have about 3 egg sacks that I have seen. Not many eggs in them though...about 8 little white dots. You can go to petco or petsmart and ask to get some...they are getting overrun, and are happy to get rid of some of them. I got about 2 hundred (or so)...lost some, and "the girls" (female bettas) ate some. The only surviving are the ones I had in my fry tank.

yeah i have mystery snails 2 black ones and 2 ivory ones These are more difficult to raise in a smaller aquarium, unless you have a lot of plants and plants roots to breed in. These generally breed only in ponds (especially in Veggie filters). Carl

actually I don't have any snails yet. I am looking into getting some b/c I al planning a DP set-up in the summer. I know they don't need snails to wear down their "beaks" since they are DPs but I know they may still like to eat them. So I am researching snails.
