So on Monday I am going to get sea monkeys if I can find some cheap enough. The reason I am posting it here and not in the "other pet" forum is because I want to feed the smaller sea monkeys (since they are brine shrimp) to my bettas. I have looked all over the site and they are easy to care for and would be a way to raise my own live food so I wouldn't have to worry about bacteria or anything like that. Has anyone ever fed sea monkeys to their bettas before? I think I will let the first generation grow up and reproduce (I may feed a few of the first generationi if there is a ton of them) and then feed starting with a small percentage of the second generation-so on and so forth. I think it should work fine. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know. My only concern is the "special" packets you add to the water to make the brine shrimp grow. The water will not touch the bettas but the brine shrimp will. I don't think they will have any ill-effect on the bettas as they are said to be non-toxic (to humans anyway didn't say anything abour fish) and encourage life not destroy it. If they don't kill invertbrates then I don't think it will do any harm to my bettas. Please post your thoughts.
