okay I was thinking about getting guppies...is it true that is you put a a couple in a tank that they will breed and if given enoughtime you may have to expand to a bigger tank because they just keep multipling? I know nothing about guppies, I mean nothing. Zip, zero, nada. How big do guppies get? What is the minimum size bowl they require? What is the best "variation" for a newbie such as myself? What do they eat (pellets, flakes, dried food) ? Are they tropical? Do they require a heater? Where is the best place to get them? Do they require a filter? Can they live in a bowl like bettas can? Thanks

really they dont belong in a bowl, guppies need at least 10 gallons. Filter is also needed. Heater is optional but a good idea. And live plants are needed, As most parents will eat the fry. Guppies dont get very large, and like most livebearers, males stay smaller than females. For more guppies info, please go to www.freewebs.com/fishpages/And click the livebearers link, i wrote an article on guppies which might be helpful to you.

not exactly your old post but it works. My next post from the old forum: So if I need all males how in the world do I figure out which ones are males and which ones are females? And by chance if I accidenly bring home a pregnant female how do I care for her and the fry. If I own something I do want to take care of it. And what if the female has her fry, then can she be put in a tank with other "already-had-babies" females or will they just keep having babies period. Also if guppies aren't good for a 5 gallno tank and neons aren't either than what is? My landlord won't let me have anything bigger and that's all I can afford to do right now. It will be a few years before I have a place of my own to bring home a large aquarium. Right now I work on a tiny scale. Besides there has got to be a way to make this tiny scale work. No one would be able to sale small tanks if nothing could live in them. Either that or the general public is clueless. Either way I need to find something for my tiny scale. My plants don't move and as much fun as they are they are not as relaxing as fish swimming around and swimming up to the top when they see you. Thanks for the help. Please keep it coming.
