Specific name: Osteoglossum bicirrhosum Origin: South America Common names: Silver Arowana, Dragon Fish Size: 40 inches
Silver arowanas are byfar the most common arowana. Silver arowanas are also one of the largest arowana species out there. It is important to have the tank covered. Being a top water fish, they are skillful jumpers and easily scared. Many prized arowanas have been lost due to jumping. Silver arowanas have an amazingly fast growth rate in their first year of life, about 12 inches. After the first year, the growth rate slows down. Silver arowanas arent really picky on feeding, however water quality needs to be well. They usually breed around the month of Feb. So around this time little babies are common. I wouldnt buy these with the egg sack as they are very delicate. Overall Care isnt that hard, but due to its massive adult size it must have over 300 gallons.
