is it necessary to test the water of an established aquarium every week, or would every other week suffice?

i dont really ever check my water on some of my tanks. but again these tanks have been running for over 10 years almost.
as long as u do weekly water changes on an established tank, there is really no need to check the water every week. But again it is good fish management if you do.

But again it is good fish management if you do. Ditto! I have found over the years that I can tell by how the aquarium and fish look some of the parameters. And as long as I follow a certain cleaning schedule, ECT; the parameters stay the same. Of coarse an accidental over feeding or fish acting differently or even just adding new fish will make me perform full tests frequently. In an established tank, I test most regularly for Nitrates and kH (and sometimes Redox) as I find these parameters the best indicators in cleaning schedules and general health in an otherwise healthy cycled tank. www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Redox_Potential.htmlwww.americanaquariumproducts.com/AquariumKH.htmlCarl

I am not sure whether being able to smell the water is grossing me out or not. Oh well. I generally test my established tanks (I count my bowls in with these as I have tested the bowls everyday and I know how fast the ammonia builds up) once a month or so. Just to be safe. And because I lack bettachris' curse...er...gift. (jk bettachris)
